From month to month they keep changing the day of service. I originally set it up on the second Wednesday of each month. Now they have been here on a Monday and a Friday and this month it was on a Tuesday. So when they come unscheduled they do not have access to 90% of the rodent traps which are in locked areas. I called once but the customer service was very unhelpful.

Jordan was on time, polite, and extremely professional. He was also very careful around our edible plants and maintained a legal distance from the lake as we hate mosquitos and ticks but love our lake side wildlife! Contacted company about tick and mosquito control last Friday. Called me 4 days later to set up an appointment for the next day. Technician showed up on time and was professional. Sprayed down the perimeter of the property 3 days ago. Too soon to know if it has worked but they say it is guaranteed to work. Service: Mosquito extermination

Invested two weeks talking with them about doing an inspection in Dedham. This is thirteen miles from Bangor. After several phones discussions and scheduling appointments, getting costs and providing payment information, they advised this morning that Dedham is outside their service area. It seems they cover Bangor but not Bangor local area.

We have used Modern for the past 4 years to keep mice at bay and just general insect care, inside and out. Our technician, Rick, is AMAZING! We look forward to seeing his smiling face. He is always respectful, courteous, on-time, and efficient. Always takes a minute to say hello and ask if there are any issues he should be aware of. I have not had the issues others have complained about. We are a business, and the building is over 100 yrs old.

I wouldn't recommend modern pest if they were the last extermination service in the world. I have had nothing but issues from the start. From the scheduling service dates for Sundays, in which they aren't even open, and also scheduling services and not showing up. Now they are just scheduling services a day before they come which i find ridiculous. More then a 10 hours notice would be great, but no they do not care. The manager i spoke with was also very snobby and rude. 10 out of 10 WOULD NOT RECOMEND!

Modern Pest has the worst customer service I have probably ever experienced. After being told last year that the "window had closed" to treat for the winter pests in my house (western seedling conifer bugs, ladybugs, etc) they promised they could address it this year. They continually sent out technicians without a ladder who could not address an entry point in one of my eves.
Each of them apologized and said they would have to have someone with a ladder come back out. I called them at least a half dozen times, explained the situation over and over, and they kept sending people with no ladder who could not address the situation. I stayed home from work twice to meet them, which was all a waste. I asked for a call from a manager, which did not come until I finally indicated my intent to cancel my service.
Manager said he would "see what he could do" and then a "customer service manager" called me back to confirm cancelling my service. No apology, no explanation for what happened.just "we've cancelled your service". It looks like I have another winter of bugs in the house to look forward to. Good riddance, and other potential clients beware!

Not very happy with my last service on Saturday the 10th of July. Please do not ever send that tech to my house ever again. As soon as my contract for tick and mosquitoes is over I will be cancelling my other service as well. They are not customer friendly. It's all about the money for them. They dont care about how bad their techs are he was very rude.
They schedule you and most times dont show up or show up whenever they feel like. They want you to lock your pets up in your house all day and then never show up.or show up early. Very bad scheduling. Poor customer service.

I have to agree with the previous comment that was made. We have been Modern customers for years now. As long as you don't have a problem, allow them to show up when it's convenient for them and allow them to deduct their payment every month, everything is fine. Should you need them for anything.forget it. They send email "Service Reminders" letting you know when they plan to come spray. sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't.
If the date and time that they plan to come doesn't work for you, too bad. They may try to reschedule, again when it's convenient for them or you can try to reschedule but even though you are an established customer, it could be another month before you see someone. I'm not sure what we have been paying for all these years. Time to look for another company.

They're supposed to come out and spray house perimeter as part of service. It's June and no spraying has occured. We called and they said we would need to schedule an appointment and that they were booked out until mid July. There's now hundreds of ant hills surrounding our house and like 20 wasp nests in our eaves. So happy to have paid for a service and not receive the service itself. Do not use this company.

So, initially I called them at the beginning of May to set up my services till October. They came when they said and all was well. Then after coming in with a few ticks and having the volume of mosquitos noticeably increase i called them and asked why they hadn't returned (every 3 weeks they're supposed to come and spray) they said they hadn't received my signed copy of the agreement which I had in my outbox signed and emailed back when it was supposed to.
They said they'd look into. A week passes with no response so I call yet again and after 20 minutes on the phone with a nice woman she assured me I was all set for Saturday (making it 3 weeks past due for my follow up spray) and it is now Sunday and no one has shown up. I went to call and leave a message and their mailbox is full- wonder why? I've been calm about it but I'm more then frustrated that at $100 a spray they can't seem to show up when they're supposed to and that they have system or filing issues. I'm calling someone else to come spray and will not recommend them as I'm sure people would prefer their time and money not go to waste.

It is unreasonable to request an evaluation of your service 24 hours after the service. My experience to date has been that rodent control has been satisfactory; mosquito control has been unsatisfactory; tick control has been apparently satisfactory. The technician was professional and appeared to do a very good job in dealing with environment. He was thorough and pleasant to deal with.

We moved to our current house in the middle of the summer last year. It is in a rural area, surrounded by woods and the amount of bugs was out of control - to the point we couldn't be outdoors in the later afternoon or evening. Modern Pest Services solved the issue! We were able to enjoy dinners outside again! Modern Pest Services always provides prompt service and has great customer service. I would highly recommend them!

Very thorough, responsible effective company. Our place on the lake was overrun with mice. Now we have none! They are very diligent in their surveying of the property and I have total confidence in them. They've gone above and beyond to let me know about a potential problem and it's just been terrific.

These guys are great. I've been using their services for years to keep the mice at bay. They send the same person each time to do check-ups and re-bait. I always get a full report to any changes, activity, or concerns. If you're lucky enough to have Mark L as your service rep, you're in excellent hands. Recently after the house was unoccupied for a while, we returned to find flying squirrels had taken up residency in the walls. Raymond, from their Wildlife Division, came out and gave me a quote and took the time to thoroughly explain the way flying squirrels operate and behave, and came up with a logical plan of attack to remove them without harm and prevent them from returning. Today he returned to do the work and walked me through everything. Fingers crossed. I'll update if there are any problems.

I think it's been about a year now that Modern Pest services have been servicing our house for ants, spiders, and all things crawly! Things have been wonderful! Matthew has been very informative, very pleasant, and very thorough! Glad that we chose Modern Pest Services! So far so good and hope things remain that way!

Our house had some squirrels in the attic. Flying squirrels. We had squirrels in the attic. Yeah, I took it personally like that funny lady on the commercial for some insurance company. HA Small critters that only need 1/2 inch of space to get in the attic warm and toasty space. We called Modern because they use no poison and no big tarps. you dont have to leave your house.
We learned alot about insulation and wildlife. We are remodeling our house and new insulation is a MUST! So let me say, The crew arrived promptly and were efficient. The bad insulation was taken out, The area disinfected and brand new insulation was put in. We got a higher R factor for the new insulation. Prior to the insulation being put in, the crew, Anthony and 2 others, came to the house and did what they call"exclusion" to prevent squirrels for up to a year.
We appreciated their honesty and thoroughness. they do have a guarantee and will honor it. The new insulation has R49 factor and is warm and cool and also has some boric acid on the bottom. Prevents all kinds of critters from coming in your house. The insulation crew we had was lead by Karl. The initial contact Colton. Anthony did the first part of exclusion, Modern is so, well MODERN, cause they dont kill, they prevent and are proactive. NO poison, no snap traps, no guns.
And these guys are hardy Mainers who hunt and fish and trap to live, but not for sport, but they dont kill to kill. Karl even said its so nice to not kill anything, but to put it in its place. Their mission, get the squirrels to live in the woods, eradicate the termites, prevent fleas and bed bugs and give you new cozy insulation. We have a critter free home and no tents or anything.
All is well and you should call them. Licensed by the wildlife division of Maine, now who could help you live better indoors and out. So if you are buying, remodeling or selling a home, call them for a FREE inspection and see what they can do for you!

When we signed up for "professional pest control services" we had assumed that they had some special methods of controlling rats that we were unable to implement ourselves. Oh how wrong we were. They charged us an exorbitant amount of money and their only "service" was to place more snap traps (NONE of which worked) and baiting stations. The problem here is we were just feeding the rats, and while we were feeding them a mixture of poison, their method seemed to dramatically increase our rat population by ungodly numbers.
Within a month of starting their "service" we told them it wasn't working and that it had in fact INCREASED our rat population. We were told that it was just an illusion and that we should put even more baiting stations around our property. Since we have a farm, and the rat population was in fact a serious health and welfare concern for our livestock, I could not wait. Putting more bait stations around the property I know created an inviting environment for more rats to be attracted, and they surely did not by ANY means SOLVE my problem.
I cannot stress enough how desperate I was to solve this problem. I lost hundreds of dollars in food, my animals were stressed out and in jeopardy, and no matter how much I tried to emphasize to Modern Pest Control how out of control this was, they didn't SOLVE or offer a VIABLE solution to my problem. I paid them hundreds of dollars to solve a problem they just made worse!
In desperation I started to try to solve the problem myself-I decided to try ultrasonic pest repellents. I placed 8 of them in various areas around my farm at a cost of $40-not only did it COMPLETELY ERADICATE the rats, but I haven't had a rat anywhere on my property since. I have had animals spill food on the ground, and there it sits untouched-so I know the rats are completely GONE.
None of my food bags are eaten thru anymore-and the very BEST part-there is NO POISON on my property anymore! And BECAUSE they didn't SOLVE my problem, and in fact just made it worse, I cancelled their "service". I was told when I signed up it was a month to month cost-like many other people-I was astounded by them trying to charge me a $260 "cancellation fee".
This is nerve-they didn't accomplish when I hired them to do and then they try to charge me a ridiculous amount of money to terminate a service that was only bleeding me of money. They really disappointed me tremendously-they should be refunding every penny of what I paid them because they did not, and were not able to SOLVE the problem which is what they were hired to DO!

Technicians are good, office staff is awful. Appointments are messed up, incorrect information is given and payments have not been entered. I've been a client for several years - can't change who I use because I don't want to have to pay several hundred dollars in upfront costs again. Unfortunately the office staff has been bad the whole time I've been a client.
